#1 by billy » Sun Aug 12, 2012 8:36 pm I'm trying to get my external HDD to work again and trying to use TestDisk. It's took me just over 16hrs to get the scanning stage up to 99% and now it seems stuck? How can I access files on IMAGE.DD file?
Dear friends, I have been working with Testdisk-7.0 the last 5 days, because I found my 2Tb internal HD was unable to access normally. After reading quite a lot of the technical documentation for Testdisk, finally I got an image of 1.7 Tb of my HD. Additionally, i tried to understand what I need to do with this file, accessing to my PST file (Outlook local files). All the other files are not important to me ... TestDisk stops at 99% while analysing for lost partitions.

J'ai ensuite réalisé un testDisk MBR pour réinitialiser le MBR mais désormais, Windows veut "formater le disque E:" pour pouvoir y accéder (et je ne le souhaite pas le formater). I followed your instructions and ran testdisk on the Fedora bootable drive. Another key aspect involves, unfortunately, in a way I guess, it showed the partition with an NTFS file structure and the boot sector was shown as okay. TestDisk Freezing, Analyse cylinder at 60801/60800: 99%.
When attempting to run TestDisk>analyse>quick search, the progress almost immediately jumps from 00% to 99% and freezes. Any help or suggestions on getting past this problem or in general getting my data back would be greatly appreciated! Moreover, the following partition can't be recovered/ filesystem damaged .... If you suspect physical dammage using your disk could cause further losses.
